Getting to Cox's Bazar
Cox's Bazar is about 400 km southeast of Dhaka. You have three main options to get here.
Option 1: By Air (Fastest)
Direct flights run from Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport (DAC) to Cox's Bazar Airport (CXB).
- Duration: ~1 hour 5–15 minutes
- Airlines: US-Bangla Airlines, Biman Bangladesh Airlines, Novoair, and Air Astra
- Price: 4,000 – 8,000 BDT one way (Biman and US-Bangla are usually cheapest; Novoair and Air Astra slightly higher)
- Frequency: Around 140 flights per week
- Book via: Airline websites, GoZayaan, ShareTrip, or Shohoz
Tip: Book 2–3 weeks ahead for peak season (October–February). Prices rise sharply close to travel date.
From Cox's Bazar Airport to Hotel Amin International: CNG auto-rickshaw — about 200–250 BDT, 15–20 minutes to Kolatoli Dolphin Circle.
Option 2: By Bus (Most Popular)
Many operators run AC and non-AC coaches from Dhaka to Cox's Bazar.
- Duration: 9–12 hours (overnight recommended)
- Operators: Hanif Enterprise, S. Alam, Green Line, Shohagh, Shyamoli, Ena Transport, Desh Travels, Saintmartin Paribahan, Royal Coach
- Price: 900 – 2,500 BDT (non-AC ~900–1,200; AC business class ~1,500–1,800; sleeper/suite ~2,000–2,500)
- Departure points: Sayedabad, Kalyanpur, Arambagh, Mohakhali, Kamalapur (varies by operator)
Tip: Book the overnight bus that departs Dhaka around 9–11 PM and arrives by morning — saves a night's hotel cost.
Book online via: Shohoz, BDTickets, or directly on operator websites.
Option 3: By Direct Train
Bangladesh Railway now runs direct trains from Dhaka to Cox's Bazar (no Chittagong transfer needed). Two intercity trains operate this route: the Cox's Bazar Express and the Parjatak Express.
- Duration: ~8 hours 20 minutes
- Route: Departs Kamalapur Central Railway Station, with stops only at Dhaka Airport Station and Chittagong Station before reaching Cox's Bazar
- Fares: Shovan Chair ~565 BDT · AC Chair ~960 BDT · AC Seat ~1,156 BDT · AC Berth ~1,731 BDT (fares revised December 2025; check current rates on the Bangladesh Railway website)
- Off days: Cox's Bazar Express is off on Mondays; Parjatak Express has its own schedule
- Book via: eticket.railway.gov.bd or Kamalapur counter
Tip: Take the night train from Dhaka — it departs around 11 PM and reaches Cox's Bazar by morning, saving hotel cost like the overnight bus but arriving more rested.
